Happy Birthday today (Aug. 17) to one time Guns N’ Roses guitarist Gilby Clarke. He’s 55. Other rockers celebrating include former Black Crowes drummer Steve Gorman (52) and guitarist Eric Johnson (63). In remembrance today, original Boston drummer Sib Hashian would have been 68.

Gilby Clarke played with Guns N’ Roses for three years, replacing Izzy Stradlin in 1991 during the Use Your Illusion tour. Clarke went on to a career as a solo artist and music producer after leaving the band. He also had his own band Rock Star Supernova from 2006-2008 which also featured Motley Crue’s Tommy Lee and Metallica’s Jason Newsted. In 2012, Gilby Clarke appeared at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony of Guns N’ Roses with fellow G n’R members Slash, Steven Adler, Matt Sorum, and Duff McKagan. Cheers to Gilby on his birthday today!
