This Creepy Statue Has LI Residents Freaking Out

A 33 foot tall bronze statue titled The Virgin Mother has some residents in Old Westbury, Long Island up in arms. The statue, which lies on real estate mogul Aby Rosen's property, depicts a naked, pregnant mother with half of her skin removed...graphically exposing muscle, skull, and even the fetus itself. The sculpture was created by British artist Damien Hirst, with several other versions of piece already on display in other parts of the world.

Old Westbury Mayor Fred Carillo...

 It's out of character with the neighborhood...we have to appease the residents, they have to preserve their bucolic views. The question is, does it belong in Old Westbury? Does it belong on a residential property?

Only Rosen's guest and a few neighbors can actually see the statue. As for now, the statue will remain covered as the town considers new height restrictions which could get the piece taken down permanently.
