This Sunday,  Aug. 21 is the Run For Home 5K to benefit The Children’s Home of Poughkeepsie.  This is a great organization that helps children in the Hudson Valley from newborns to high schoolers.  Boris and I are huge supporters, even more so after we spent an afternoon at The Children’s Home and got to meet the staff, tour the facilities, and learn the history.

The Run For Home 5k starts at the Dutchess Rail Trail parking lot at Van Wyck Lane and Lake Walton Road.  You don’t have to run, walkers are welcome.  Registration is at 7am.  Registration for the 12 and under kids race is at 8am.  The run/walk starts at 8:45.  There will be prizes, refreshments, face painting, and more.

You can preregister for the Run For Home 5k at www.childrenshome.us or call 845 452-1420.  The 5K will be held rain or shine.   It’s a fun and healthy way to spend the day, and it’s all for a great cause.
