Mark the date on your calendar now. Sunday, Aug. 27 is the Run For Home 5K to benefit The Children’s Home of Poughkeepsie. This is a great organization that literally saves the lives of many children in the Hudson Valley.  Boris and I have had the pleasure of spending time with the staff at The Children’s Home, and we are so impressed with the facilities and the long history of The Children's Home in the Hudson Valley.

The Run For Home 5k starts at the Dutchess Rail Trail parking lot at Van Wyck Lane and Lake Walton Road.  You don’t have to run, walkers are welcome.  Registration is at 7:15 am. The 12 and under kids race is at 8am.  The 5K run/walk starts at 8:45.  There will be awards, and t-shirts for those who pre register before Aug. 12. There will also be refreshments and face painting. It’s a fun and healthy way to spend the day, and it’s all for a great cause.

You can preregister for the Run For Home 5k at www.childrenshome.us or call 845 452-1420 ext. 177. See you on Aug. 27.
