The Doctor has always been fashion-forward, so consider Jodie Whittaker’s 13th Time Lord officially keeping with tradition. The first female Doctor Who lead has arrived in her suspended, multi-color costume, and we can already feel the cosplay in motion.

Whittaker won’t debut in the role officially until 2018 (we’ll meet her in the 2017 Christmas special), but Doctor Who nonetheless offered a first look at the former Broadchurch star in costume. There’s a hint of Tom Baker in the shirt, but who knew Doctor Who could rock such pronounced suspenders after Matt Smith?

Our new Doctor will begin Season 11 in spring 2018 under new showrunner Chris Chibnall, replacing the departed Steven Moffat. In the meantime, Peter Capaldi will make his last bow this Christmas in “Twice Upon a Time,” joined by David Bradley as the very first Doctor (meta-reprising his role as actor William Hartnell) and Pearl Mackie’s Bill.

We’ll likely see more of Jodie Whittaker’s Doctor Who debut in the weeks before 2017’s end, but does the new costume live up to the series’ best?
