Those turning in to watch FOX's Thursday Night Football last night got an unexpected metal nod during the intro to the game courtesy of metal mavens Steel Panther. In a taped bit, the rockers mistakenly turn up at the FOX studios while thinking that they were going to be featured on the broadcast.

In the clip above, singer Michael Starr interrupts Michael Strahan and Howie Long revealing that they were told they were headlining Thursday Night Football. Much to their dismay, Strahan corrects them with the info that it's "Steelers-Panthers." Sadly Steel Panther didn't get their headlining set, with fans instead being treated to a one-sided Steelers victory. However, guitarist Satchel does get a spotlight to play a bit of the FOX football theme music.

The humorous bit ends with fellow FOX analyst Terry Bradshaw turning up in full metal garb and long hair anxious to see Steel Panther, so they've got that going for them.

Though they didn't get to headline Thursday Night Football, Steel Panther will play for audiences in the U.S. in November and December, while European fans will also see them early in the new year. See all of their scheduled dates here.
