Indian Point, in Buchanan, just south of Peekskill, is a three-unit nuclear power plant station owned by Entergy Nuclear Northeast, a subsidiary of Entergy Corporation.

Hudson Valley News Network is reporting that there will be a full-volume test of the Indian Point Energy Center siren system between 6 and 7 p.m.,Wednesday, September 16 throughout the 10-mile Emergency Planning Zone around Indian Point, including the sirens in Orange County.

The sirens will sound for 4 minutes without interruption and you don't need to do anything, other than to be aware that this will only be a test. If it was a real emergency, you would need to listen to the Emergency Alert system on radio or TV to receive additional information. Simply hearing the sirens is never a sign to evacuate.
