A Newburgh man that stole a rifle and tools from a homeowner he knew has been sentenced.

Thursday in Orange County Court, 33-year-old Spencer Seymour was sentenced to 7 years in prison. On Feb. 11, 2015 an Orange County Jury convicted him of 2nd-degee burglary and other offenses.

According to the Orange County District Attorney’s Office, on June 14, 2015, Seymour entered a home on Weaver Road in the Town of Newburgh and stole tools and a rifle.

A neighbor saw Seymour enter the home, leave with a bag full of the homeowner’s belongings, and put the bag into his pickup truck. The neighbor took Seymour’s picture as the burglary was occurring.

When the homeowner returned the neighbor showed the owner the picture. The victim recognized Seymour and his pickup. Seymour later turned himself in.
