My Lost Treasure: The Band

The theme is cities, towns, states, countries, etc.  In a word, places.  The song I picked for today is actually one written by Bruce Springsteen.  It has been recorded by a lot of people and bands, but the one we are hearing today is The Band's version.

I chose The Band for a few reasons.  First of all, they do a great cover of the song.  Second, they have such a local connection.  They spent so much time in the Woodstock and Saugerties area in Ulster County.  Levon Helm's Barn and Studio in Woodstock are still going strong. They also played the area.  I know I was lucky enough to introduce them on stage at The Chance in Poughkeepsie a few times.  And, they were friends of the radio station.  They came in often, and they were always so humble and so nice.  That's why I chose this version.
