Super Troopers, filmed in Fishkill, Wappingers, Newburgh and Poughkeepsie, has officially announced a long-awaited sequel. The original 2001 comedy continues to have a cult following, especially among local Hudson Valley residents who can see local landmarks throughout the film.  The opening scene, for example, take place at the Golden Rail Ale House in Newburgh (language NSFW):

Us Magazine confirmed the announcement with actor Steve Lemme who played the mustachioed trooper Mac in the original.  The movie is said to pick up right where the first one ended.  Filming is supposed to start in the beginning of 2015, but there's no word yet if they will return to the Hudson Valley.  Because of the limited budget, however, it's not too far of a stretch to imagine them returning to our area.  Lemme told Us Magazine:

Fox is going to distribute the film, but we needed to raise the money for it, with a minimum budget of $27 million, which we've just about raised. There may be a Kickstarter launched to raise the last little bit.

We'd be happy to kick in some dough to see the Broken Lizard guys bring our favorite dysfunctional troopers back to the big screen.  How about you?  Are you excited about more "shenanigans' from the Super Troopers?
