Pharmacy Closing 77 Stores Including 12 in New York

One of the biggest names in pharmacies in the U.S. has announced another round of store closures with 12 New York locations expected to close in 2024.

The last couple of years have been tough for the popular pharmacy chain Rite Aid. In 2023 they filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy and announced they would be closing more than 154 underperforming stores across the country with more than 20 stores being New York locations.

Rite Aid Closing Hundreds of Locations

Since the company filed court papers in October they have scheduled the closing of more than 400 stores and according to new documents, they have added 77 stores to the list of closures bringing the total to approximately 500 stores. Rite Aid stores in New Jersey, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, and 10 other states were previously scheduled to close. Now it appears that 12 New York stores will be shuttered as well, according to Syracuse.

Last month we told you that the Rite Aid store at 40 Vassar Rd. in Poughkeepsie (Red Oaks Mill) would soon close and now it appears that 11 other New York stores scattered across the state will also be closing soon. Here's the most up-to-date list of Rite Aid stores scheduled to close in New York:

Rite Aid didn't say when each store mentioned above will close but when they do we will update this article. Rite Aid currently has over 1,700 Rite Aid stores nationwide, including more than 120 locations in New York state.
