Officers immediately began providing medical assistance, including applying a tourniquet to try to help control the bleeding.

Because an EMS unit from Empress Ambulance was not immediately available, officers made the decision to transport the injured woman to Garnet Health Medical Center themselves in the back of a police vehicle.

Second Victim Found in Bathroom

As additional officers arrived and began investigating what had happened, they were directed inside the QuickChek after learning there was reportedly another stabbing victim.

What Led to the Stabbing?

Police say the two women are known acquaintances and that the stabbing appears to have stemmed from a dispute that began while the two were traveling together inside the victim's vehicle.

Charges against the 21-year-old woman are currently pending, and police have not released the names of either woman.

The Middletown Police Department Detective Division is continuing to investigate exactly what happened and is asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has information that could help investigators to contact them at 845-343-3151.
