Special Salute To Veterans At Walkway Over Hudson Event
A special night for veterans in the Hudson Valley is scheduled for September 20th, and will be held at a historic Hudson Valley landmark.
Veterans and their families will be able to enjoy a beautiful night on the World's Longest Elevated Pedestrian Bridge in a celebration of those that served.
Salute2Vets Scheduled For Walkway Over The Hudson
Friends of the Walkway has announced a special nighttime event set for Friday, September 20th at 5:30pm for local veterans. Celebrating those that served, Salute2Vets will offer resources, music and other entertainments, food trucks, as well as free food for Veterans and their families.
The East side of the Walkway, Poughkeepsie end, will host MHA Dutchess Veterans Programs and Dutchess County Veterans Services with resources and informational tables. On the West side, Highland end, the Hudson Valley National Center for Veteran Reintegration will be on hand to provide resources.
Schedule of Events
Both entrances to the walkway will open for tabling, food and entertainment at 5:45pm, with the procession to the flagpole at 6:45pm. At 7:15pm there will be the Salute2Vets Ceremony at the Center Overlook and at 7:45pm the fireworks show will begin.
Before fireworks, all visitors will be asked to convene towards the Walkway's Center Overlook, near the American Flag, and will be met with Pipes and Drums and a ceremony to honor the heroes. The fireworks show will follow with a special Veterans and their guests reserved viewing area.
Although the event itself is free to attend, organizers are asking for RSVP information here.
