You’ll Never Guess Where a New York Driver Trapped Their Tesla
Excuse me, you can't park there!
The Internet is shaking its collective head when a New York Tesla driver needed to be rescued after getting their car stuck in one of the most ridiculous places imaginable.
Tesla Stereotypes in New York State
Driving a Tesla in the Hudson Valley, NY often comes with some stereotypes... and the fancier the model, the crueler the assumptions can be. While not every New Yorker driving Elon Musk's electric vehicle is brainless weekender from the city, one owner is now responsible for even more eyerolls.
Tesla Driver Stuck on Snowmobile Trail in Hamilton County, NY
"Recently, Forest Ranger Snye worked with a Hamilton County Sheriff's Office Deputy in response to a call about a disabled vehicle", shared the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC). The driver of the car (a Tesla, of course), had apparently decided that their electric vehicle was actually an all-terrain vehicle... and elected to attempt to navigate a snowmobile trail. From the NYSDEC:
The driver was trying to reach the Siamese Ponds Wilderness trailhead, which is only open for snowmobile use... [they were] issued a ticket for illegal operation of a motor vehicle on posted easement roads/trails
New York Tesla Driver Roasted in the Comment Section
The comments, of course, were merciless. "Why am I not surprised it’s a Tesla", wondered one New Yorker. "When you think you seen it all. Naaa.", observed another. Some even attempted (and failed) to give the driver the benefit of the doubt, offering, "Could probably blame the self-drive system... [except] for what looks like chains installed on the tires... People are wild with Teslas"
With their off-road adventure abruptly ended, the Tesla was towed and the driver was ticketed... but they'll have to live with the Internet shame forever. If it was adventure they were after, they could have legally explored some of New York's most dangerous roads (below) instead.
