Police say an intoxicated Dutchess County man left a woman with a bloody nose before losing control of his vehicle.

An investigation into a crash in the town of Saugerties led to the arrest of a Rhinebeck, NY man.

The investigation revealed that Patrick M. Dowling, 60, of Rhinebeck was in an intoxicated state when the crash occurred, and further engaged in in a domestic dispute with his 45- year old female passenger.

During the dispute, while driving his vehicle, Dowling allegedly struck the female in the face, causing her nose to bleed. When the female retrieved her phone, Dowling allegedly slapped the phone from the victim's hand.

Dowling lost control of his vehicle and ran off the road into a ditch. The female fled the vehicle and was located by officers responding to the original call.

The female, who presented with physical injury at the time, declined medical attention.

Dowling was arrested at the scene and charged with Driving While Intoxicated, and other traffic violations.

Dowling was processed and released pending a future court appearance.

Police are continuing their investigation into the domestic incident, and further additional charges against Dowling are pending.
