An avalanche triggered by the earthquake in Nepal was captured on video as it slammed into a Mount Everest base camp.

At least 18 have been reported dead in the avalanche, with many other injured and unaccounted for. The huge wall of snow began to fall from Mount Kumori, a 22,966-foot-high mountain new Everest. It picked up momentum as it got closer to the base camp.

Incredible footage from one of the survivors shows just how powerful the avalanche was. The video, uploaded by YouTube user Jost Kobusch, shows the earth rattling just moments before a huge wall of snow engulfs the camp. Kobush was able to huddle behind a tent and other hikers can be heard helping each other out, and shielding them from the snow under their jackets.
