A Hudson Valley police officer was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated after flipping his vehicle. 

Nicholas P. Kozack, 36, of Stone Ridge faces a charge of DWI after driving off the road and flipping his vehicle onto its roof. Kozack is employed as a police officer for the Kingston Police Department.

According to a press release, Kozack was traveling on Lucas Avenue, when he missed his turn, and drove off the road. He crashed into a large metal sign causing his vehicle to flip onto the roof before coming to a stop.

Kozack was transported to Kingston Hospital where he was treated and charged with DWI. He also faces additional charges due to the unauthorized use of the vehicle he was driving at the time of the crash.

Kozack was issued a ticket to appear back in court at a later date.
