Happy Birthday today (June 3) to Kerry King of Slayer. The guitarist is 52. Other rockers celebrating include singer Doro Pesch (52) and Ian Hunter (Mott the Hoople) who turns 77.

Kerry King co-founded Slayer with Jeff Hanneman in 1981 and became the main songwriter for the band after Hanneman's death. Known as one of the "big 4" in thrash metal along with Metallica, Megadeth, and Anthrax, Slayer first rose to fame with the release of the 1986 album Reign in Blood. The band has released twelve studio albums, two live albums, and a box set over the course of their career. The band's latest album Repentless was released in September 2015 and it was their highest charting album debuting at number for on the Billboard 200 chart.
