Chris Hillman will return Sept. 22 with Bidin' My Time, his first new solo LP in more than a decade.

The country-rock pioneer, whose distinguished career includes founding memberships in the Byrds, Flying Burrito Brothers, Manassas and the Desert Rose Band, worked with producer Tom Petty on the new recordings, which collect an assortment of covers (including Petty's own "Wildflowers") along with new originals and re-recordings or reworkings of songs from Hillman's archives.

Among the latter group is a new version of "The Bells of Rhymney," a song the Byrds cut for their debut album and which remains Hillman's favorite of the band's recordings. Joined by longtime collaborator Herb Pedersen and former Byrds bandmate David Crosby for the track, Hillman said, "I decided to cut it again because I wanted to sing with David and Herb, two great tenors. David just loves Herb’s singing, and at 75 years old, David is still a powerful singer — one of the best I’ve ever worked with or been around."

Bidin' My Time is available to pre-order now, and is preceded by a new recording of "She Don't Care About Time," originally a Byrds song relegated to the B-side of their "Turn! Turn! Turn!" single. You can hear that song above, and look over the complete Bidin' My Time track listing — as well as Hillman's upcoming tour dates — below.
