Another great eating spot has closed down. What's the deal, Hudson Valley?

It's been a rough couple of years for restaurants and stores in the Hudson Valley. Many beloved businesses have closed their doors for good. And now we're sad to find out that another deli has shut down.

Visitors to Castaldo's Route 9 Deli in Wappingers Falls are now greeted with a handwritten sign explaining that the business is closed. We're not sure when the lights were turned out, but judging by the Christmas decorations that still adorn the awning outside, it seems to have happened abruptly.

The note claims that the business is being sold and will reopen when new owners finalize a deal. A visit to the deli's Facebook page made no mention of a sale and the businesses' Yelp page just has a message saying it is closed.

Eric Castaldo, the former owner, reached out to us and explained that he sold the business back in February of 2016. The new owners reportedly shut the doors in late November. Castaldo says he's sad to see his former business closed down.

I put a lot of sweat and my vision was based on fresh food, great customer service, vibrant place as why the walls were neon and our shirts were neon. I wanted to keep a upbeat fun and exciting deli. I miss my staff daily and of course my employees.
