Local police saved the life of unresponsive Hudson Valley man who was found with a tourniquet wrapped around his arm.

On Saturday around 6:20 a.m., Saugerties Police Department responded to a 911 call at a home on Dock Street for an unconscious and unresponsive male.

Arriving officers found a 42-year-old man in his bedroom unconscious and unresponsive, with a tourniquet wrapped around his arm, police say.

Officers administered two doses of Narcan, a drug which is known to reverse the effects from a heroin overdose, and provided mouth to mouth recitation. However, the man was still unresponsive.

After a third dose of Narcan, from arriving paramedics, the man regained consciousness, officials say.

The man was then transported to the Health Alliance of the Hudson Valley Broadway Campus Hospital by Diaz Ambulance.

Officers filed a mental health evaluation on the man.
