Woman Attempts to Hide Child in Carry-on Bag

CNN reports that a woman was arrested Monday after authorities say she attempted to hide a child in a carry-on bag.

Air France said in a statement obtained by CNN Wednesday, that the unidentified woman was arrested at Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport after trying to hide the child in a bag on Air France Flight 1891 from Istanbul, Turkey.

One unidentified source at the airport said that the woman was "apparently in the transit zone in Istanbul, and had crossed the customs checkpoint with the child, when she was prevented from boarding a flight with her."

The child is said to be between the ages of two and four and did not have a flight ticket.

According to CNN, the woman is being held by French police, while the child remains in the care of French authorities.

The woman was said to have been in the process of trying to adopt the child.
