This Week’s Rock News: Saying Goodbye to Tom Petty
I'm not sure if you had the chance to listen to the rock news this week on The Boris and Robyn Show, but you have to living under a rock to not have heard the devastating news about Tom Petty. It still seems so unreal to me, but Tom Petty passed away after going into cardiac arrest.
How could this be? I just saw him at Mountain Jam. He looked happy and healthy. This is a great loss for the world of music. The only good thing I can say is that Tom Petty lived his life with integrity. He didn't compromise when it came to what's right and what's wrong. he was a kind person, loved by his band mates and his countless fans. And he left us with lots of great music to remember him by. RIP Tom, and know that you enhanced the lives of millions.
Also this week in rock news, we learned that Eddie Money will have a new reality show centered around his life and family. You can look for that on AXS in the near future. Elton John and Bernie Taupin will celebrate their 50th anniversary as a team with the release of a greatest hits compilation called Diamonds. It comes out on Nov. 10.And Ronnie James Dio's widow/manager Wendy says there are unreleased Dio songs that we might actually get to hear in the future.
So, it wasn't all bad news this week, but the bad news was really bad. Let's hope for better news next week.
