If you lunge towards officers with a knife in your hand, it shouldn't a surprise when you get tased.

Early Friday morning officers received a report of a disturbance with windows being broken in the Village of Monticello. Once officer arrived at the scene, they could hear the subject yelling and breaking things in his apartment.

Officers asked the man to come to the door and speak with them. The man, who was identified as Jonathan Statt, 31, of Monticello answered his door while holding a black folding knife. Officers instructed Statt to drop the knife. According to a press release, Statt then raised the knife over his head and lunged towards the officers.

At that point, officers utilized their tasers to subdue Statt and take him into custody. Statt was charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon, Attempted Assault, Resisting Arrest, and two counts of Obstructing Governmental Administration.

He was arraigned and sent to Sullivan County Jail in lieu of $25,000 cash bail. Following the arraignment, Statt was charged with obstructing governmental administration when he became combative, which required several officers to restrain him in order to place him in the patrol car.

Statt is due back in court at a later date.
