We all know that living in the Hudson Valley is very different than most other parts of the country. But when a world-wide event happens, the difference becomes much clearer.

On Septermber 4 at midnight the world celebrated the release of new toys from the upcoming seventh installment of "Star Wars."  Parties were thrown at stores across the country to entice shoppers to line up to be one of the first to purchase the new action figures. "Force Friday" events included raffles, trivia contests and appearances by costumed characters.

In Times Square, characters from the new film came to life while shoppers lined up for the big unveiling:

And in South Korea, Darth Vader himself led the countdown to Midnight:
