State Police investigated a report of a brand new fire truck that was involved in a collision on Interstate 84.

On Tuesday around 11:45 a.m., New York State Police from the East Fishkill barracks responded to Interstate 84 eastbound for a reported fire truck collision. An investigation revealed that 64-year-old Glenn E. Bennett, of Three Lakes, Wisconsin, was driving the truck on the highway near the area of Lime Kiln Road.

The 2016 Seagrave Pumper Truck was traveling from Seagrave Fire Apparatus in Wisconsin to the Islip Terrace Fire Department on Long Island where it was going to be placed into operation. Police believe Bennett suffered an undisclosed medical emergency which caused him to exit the roadway. The truck entered the median and hit several trees before coming to a complete stop.

Bennett was transported to Danbury Hospital where he is listed in stable condition. There are no other reported injuries.
