Poughkeepsie Credit Union Robbed
The TEG Federal Credit Union in Poughkeepsie across from Marist College was robbed Thursday afternoon.
Todd Bender from the 1st Responders Network said the suspect reportedly entered the credit union and demanded cash. He took off on foot with a significant sum of money and started walking toward Marist College campus. Town of Poughkeepsie officers were on the case with dogs in search of the man.
The suspect was described as a man between 25-40 years old with gray hair. He reportedly had an unidentified white powder on his face. Anyone with information should call the Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department at (845) 485-3666.
TEG Federal Credit Union has been a local institution since 1969. According to their website, teachers from the Wappingers Central school district were looking for a better banking alternative and started Wappingers Central Federal Credit Union. Their name changed to 'TEG' in 1976. Due to the close proximity to Marist College, a considerable amount of students do their banking there as well.
