A teen is accused of using fake money to buy Apple products in Dutchess County.

New York State Police from the Poughkeepsie barracks arrested an eighteen-year-old for possession of a forged instrument, a class C felony, and petit larceny, a class A misdemeanor.

In November of 2018, troopers responded to a report of a fraudulent purchase using counterfeit money. The victim sold an Apple Watch to a teen who paid for the watch using counterfeit $100 and $20 U.S. currency bills in Pleasant Valley, police say.

Despite only having the first name of the alleged suspect, police were able to identify and arrest the 18-year-old, officials say. The teen's name and hometown weren't released.

The teen was arraigned before the town of Pleasant Valley Court and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $500 cash bail or $1,000 bond. The 18-year-old is due back in court on Tuesday.
