The National “Drunk Driving, Drive Sober or get Pulled Over” campaign ran from August 21 through September 7, and it's safe to say that members of the NY State Police wrote a lot of tickets.

47,359 tickets to be exact. HVNN reports that New York State Police targeted impaired and distracted driving, speeding, move over violations and those not buckled up.

Of the tickets issued, 18,660 were for speeding, 2,522 child restraint and seatbelt violations, 556 move over tickets, and 1,613 for distracted driving.

Troopers arrested 769 people for DWI during this crackdown enforcement. Troopers conducted sobriety checkpoints and more than 21,000 vehicles passed though. Seventy two of the motorists stopped were arrested for DWI.

More than 10,000 tickets were issued this Labor Day weekend alone.
