As the regular season of the NFL wrapped up this weekend, we all knew that some teams would be cutting loose players and coaches.Well, the NY Jets have started very quickly, firing General Manager John Idzik, and Coach Rex Ryan. The decision came after much thought and reflection on the current state of the football team, according to Owner Woody Johnson.

The two will not be returning for the 2015 season. The Jets finished at 4-12 for the year, which is their worst since 2007.

Johnson also added in a statement:

"Both Rex and John made significant contributions to the team, and they have my appreciation and gratitude for their efforts and commitment. Over the years, Rex brought the Jets a bold confidence and a couple of great postseason runs, which all of us will remember."

The Jets will now move to trying to improve their organization. Here is the full statement from Owner Woody Johnson: Newyorkjets.com
