New Paltz had done the unthinkable, and now the City of Poughkeepsie is licking its wounds.

It seemed like Poughkeepsie had it in the bag. Perhaps that overconfidence is why they just didn't get the volume of votes needed to make it to the Hudson Valley Madness Finals.

Listeners of the Boris and Robyn Show have been voting for their favorite towns, filling in the Hudson Valley Madness bracket all the way to the championship round. Earlier in the week the Village of New Paltz was also upset by Newburgh, who rallied in the final hours to get hundreds of votes needed to squeak out a victory.

While Poughkeepsie handily beat Middletown to make it to the final four, it just wasn't enough to beat New Paltz, who beat out Beacon in the opening round. Many suspected that top seeds, Newburgh and Poughkeepsie, would make it to the finals based solely on their huge populations, but that wasn't the case. What New Paltz lacked in population they made up for in town spirit.

Voting for the championship round begins on Monday morning and will last until Friday, April 6. Be sure to come back and vote for the best town in the Hudson Valley.
