As the City of Poughkeepsie School District relentlessly strives to rank in the top 10% of the 700 school districts in the state, a new initiative has been launched to better serve their 4,700 students.

With the help of the City of Poughkeepsie Mayor Rob Rolison, and members of the Common Council, the initiative 'Mission Literacy' has been launched. Mission Literacy will improve student achievement, graduation rates, college placement, career readiness.

This initiative is a unique synergy between City of Poughkeepsie government, and the Poughkeepsie City School District that includes "Book baskets", summer reading logs, and Summer Pak, a reading program designed to decrease "summer learning loss".

The Mission Literacy framework will be unveiled at City Hall in Poughkeepsie on Thursday June 9th at 10:30 a.m.
