Ron ‘Bumblefoot’ Thal was a lead guitarist for Guns N’ Roses from 2006-2014. After meeting the band and jamming with them in 2006, he officially joined the band as replacement for guitarist Buckethead. He made his live debut with the band in NYC at Hammerstein Ballroom in May 12, 2006 and he played on the album Chinese Democracy. He also appeared in the home video release Appetite for Democracy 3D. In late 2014, Thal announced that he was focusing on his solo career and on July 21, 2015, journalist Gary Graff reported that Thal was no longer in Guns N’ Roses and he had left after the band’s 2014 tour. Thal discussed leaving the band in a July 2016 interview. I saw Bumblefoot with Guns N' Roses several times over the years and the dude rocks. Great guitarist. Cheers to Bumblefoot on his birthday today!
