Record Store Day has officially named Metallica its Ambassador for 2016. Record Store Day is Saturday, April 16.

According to blabbermouth.net, Metallica are set to be Ambassadors for the  special day set a side for independent record stores and record store culture worldwide. Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich said, "Independent record stores are part of Metallica's DNA. They have been pivotal in shaping each one of us into the music fanatics we've all become. We could not be any prouder to be Record Store Day Ambassadors for 2016 and looking forward to screaming from every rooftop the next few months about everything independent record store and beyond."

No strangers to Record Store Day, the band had the highest seller of 2015's Record Store Day when the band issued their original demo No Life Til Leather on cassette. This year, look for the reissues of classic Metallica albums Kill 'Em All and Ride the Lightning with bonus material on Record Store Day.
