Megadeth bassist David Ellefson agrees with bandmate Dave Mustaine about putting on another Big 4 show before Slayer call it quits. In addition to a final Big 4 event, Ellefson calls for Slayer to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for “an incredible career.”

Much like Anthrax’s Scott Ian, who will be opening for Slayer on their North American farewell dates, Ellefson was surprised by Slayer’s retirement news. “Slayer’s young to be retiring,” Ellefson said on Trunk Nation. "Look, we've all worked hard. We've headbanged a lot. Our necks hurt. I get it. And I have not talked to the guys, so I don't know what their understanding is internally."

Ellefson continued, ”We've been doing this a long time, and I think all of us are fortunate enough to have survived much of the stuff, some of it self-induced and some of it just rock and roll as we know it and the world as we know it … [Slayer] should be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. I mean, by [Rock Hall's] own standards, being an innovator, they are that band for sure.”

As for a potential Big 4 concert before Slayer hang it up, Ellefson said, “I think it would awesome. We can only hope and pray that that would happen. I think it would be a great way to sort of say 'adios' to that as far as kind of the 'Big Four' of us being together."

Dave Mustaine has been adamant for at least one more Big 4 show, saying that if Metallica decide not to participate, he’d be asking Exodus to fill that vacant fourth spot. Slayer’s North American dates kick off May 10, so click here to grab tickets.
