If you're anything like I am, you don't know much about the Kiwanis. I feel like I've heard about Kiwanis all my life, but I really have no idea what it's all about. Or had no idea. I'm starting to learn about the importance of the Kiwanis clubs.

Kiwanis helps kids around the world. Local clubs look out for their communities and the international organization takes on large-scale challenges, such as fighting disease and poverty.

The Southern Dutchess area hasn't had a Kiwanis club since 1979, but they have recently formed one, and they will be having a Sip & Paint fundraiser at the Alley Kat on Route 9 in Wappingers Falls on Sunday, Feb. 17 from 4 - 7 pm. Create a set of two wine glasses or pilsner glasses, no painting experience required. $45 includes specially selected goodies from the Alley Kat menu and all crafting supplies and glassware.

Reservations are required. Call Created with Love Boutique at (845)544-4982 or use this ticket link. To find out more about the Kiwanis and their mission, visit their website. To get involved with the Kiwanis of Southern Dutchess, visit here.
