I have been a horse girl all my life. I remember asking my Dad for a horse when I was 6. The reply I got was they are expensive and you need to know how to take care of it. Of course, he was right.

As I got older I did eventually earn a horse and then I worked to keep it fed and watered. I spent most of my teenage years working at a barn to help pay my horse bills. That included the Vet and the farrier.

I bring all of this up in order to support something that was shared today by an organization here in the Hudson Valley that cares for horses and wants to remind us that they require constant care. Equine Rescue Resource Inc. is one of the many horse rescues we have in our area of New York.

They are located in Pine Bush and are a 501(C)3 founded in 1999 to help horses in need.

Tater's previous situation led to him having not only numerous health issues but he was also severely overweight. Tater had also developed Laminitis also known as Founder which can be a completely debilitating situation for a horse. Left untreated for too long it can't be reversed.
