The Women's NCAA Tournament is bringing their sweet skills to New York State this weekend and the top player in college sports will be in town.
Women's Sweet 16 NCAA Tournament Heads to New York
16 of the most talented basketball teams will head to the Empire State this weekend to continue the madness.
Starting on Friday, March 29th, 2024 at 2:30 pm number 2 seed Notre Dame will take on the 3 seed Oregon St for the Sweet 16 March Madness Women's NCAA Basketball tournament.
Then at 5 pm, the 1-seed South Carolina will play 4-seeded Indiana at The MVP Arena in Albany, NY. Throughout the rest of the weekend, until Sunday, March 31st, teams like UConn, Iowa, Texas, and USC will hit the hardwood.
Games will continue, through the Elite 8, to be played through Monday, April 1st, 2024.
Caitlyn Clark Ballin' in Albany, NY
The biggest name in college basketball will be hitting the court in Albany during the tournament. Senior Caitlin Clark will play alongside her teammates representing the University of Iowa Hawkeyes on Saturday, March 30th at 3:30 pm. Iowa will face off against the 5-seeded Colorado.
Clark, who is a 6'0 guard, holds the record for All-Time Leading Scorer in NCAA History for both men's and women's basketball. Earlier this season, Clark passed NCAA men's and women's all-time leading scorer "Pistol" Pete Maravich. In 3 seasons at LSU Maravich, he scored 3,667 points from 1967 to 1970, according to KCCI 8 in Des Moines.
Caitlin Clark scored 3,685 points in her career at Iowa.
The college senior has brought new life to women's basketball bringing a whole new audience to the sport. Fellow athletes and celebrities have attended several of Clark's games this season. Clark was recently quoted in an interview saying:
It seems like people are more excited about the women's side than the men's side
Popularity comes with a price. A quick look at Ticketmaster shows that ticket prices for all of the games this weekend in Albany at The MVP Arena are anywhere between $153 to over $700 for a single ticket.
Saturday tickets grant fans entries to both games 1:00 pm: UCLA vs LSU, 3:30 pm Iowa vs Colorado. Tickets range from $239 to over $1,000.
