A popular clothing store chain will be closing its final Hudson Valley location on April 25.

The Gap is the latest chain store to announce they're leaving the Hudson Valley. In July the iconic jeans and khaki retailer closed down its Middletown location in the Galleria at Crystal Run.  Additional stores in Yorktown Heights, New Hartford and Rochester were  announced to be part of another 175 store closings in January.

Signs appeared this week at the last remaining Hudson Valley Gap store indicating that it, too, would close on April 25. The Gap and Gap Kids stores located in the Poughkeepsie Galleria will close their doors at the end of the month, making Danbury, CT the closest location of a Gap retailer. The Gap Factory stores remain open at Woodbury Common Premium Outlets and the Orange Plaza in Middletown, however they only carry lesser-quality clothes especially made for the outlet and do not sell overstocked or any other items sold at actual Gap stores.

The fact that Gap will no longer have any stores in the Hudson Valley is ironic, since the clothing company's enormous 2.3 million square foot North East distribution center is located right here in Fishkill. In 2014 the clothing company announced it was investing another $95 million to expand the facility and add 1,200 jobs by 2019.

Gap also operates several Old Navy and Banana Republic locations in the Hudson Valley. Those stores have not announced any closings.

We want to know what you think. Are you disappointed that Gap will no longer be located in the Hudson Valley? Will you still shop on their website or travel to their Danbury location?
