A Lower Hudson Valley man has been sentenced to 25 years in state prison for the stabbing death of his mother.

On May, 23, 2018 Westchester County District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino, Jr. announced that Andre Coverdale has been sentenced to 25 years in state prison for Manslaughter first-degree, for the stabbing death of his mother, Dawne McCray of Yonkers.

Coverdale has no known address.

We previously reported that on Jan.16, coverdale walked up to a security booth at 2 Schroeder Street in Yonkers and told the security officer that “he had just killed his mother.” Coverdale requested the guard to call the police.

When police arrived, Coverdale was at the security booth, and told officers which apartment they could find his mother. Officers located the apartment and found the victim dead in her bed. the medical examiner later said he died from multiple stab wounds.

The alleged murder weapon was found on a window sill.

Coverdale pleaded guilty on March 15, 2018.
