RHINEBECK - The Marlboro girls softball team just keeps knocking at the state championship door.

Last season ended with the Iron Dukes falling short in the first round of the state tournament. The year before, the Dukes made it all the way to the finals before the door slammed shut. But there's no quit in this program because this season Marlboro is right back at the door of a New York State championship.

Marlboro got through the first round Regional Semi Finals and the Regional finals and are now headed up to Glens Falls to participate in the Final Four for Class B schools. The first step was to get by Section One's Rye Neck. The Iron Dukes jumped out to a 4-1 lead, but Rye Neck made it interesting in the 6th, scoring two runs to cut the deficit to 1 run. Thanks to some timely hitting by Taylor Felicello and a couple of spectacular outfield catches by Missy Sadler, Marlboro edged out a 4-3 win.

From there the Iron Dukes beat the Section Eight representative, Babylon, and are now headed to the Final Fours this Saturday with a 9:00 a.m. first round game against Solvay; another 20-2 team, Solvay knocked off the number one ranked team in NYS in the Regional finals.
