DEC Snags Illegal Fishing Net in Sullivan County

On July 23 NYS Department of Environmental Conservation Enforcement Officer Tom Koepf investigated a complaint of a large unattended fishing net set up on the bank of Swinging Bridge Marina in the town of Bethel. 

Koepf's investigation determined that the 75-foot-long fishing trap was anchored to the shore and only visible because of the extremely low water levels in the reservoir. 

Koepf removed the trap to prevent further illegal fish harvesting and is investigating further to determine the name of the owner of the net.
