Today (Dec. 6) would have been Randy Rhoads 59th birthday. The guitar great played in the early days of Quiet Riot, and would eventually move on to make great records with Ozzy Osbourne.

Rhoads was a member of Quiet Riot which he co-founded at the age of 16. He would eventually join Ozzy and be responsible for helping him get his solo career going in the early 80’s, playing on classic albums like "Blizzard of Ozz" and "Diary of a Madman". Rhoads died tragically in a plane accident while on tour with Ozzy in Florida in 1982. Despite his short career, Rhoads legacy lives on in his music. A new Randy Rhoads tribute album was released earlier this year by UDR Music.

Randy Rhoads has been cited as an influence by many guitarists, and is considered among one of the greatest guitarists of all time.
Happy Birthday Randy!
