SNL Mocks Hudson Valley, Ratings Crumble
Saturday Night Live is making noise in the local area for potentially ripping the Hudson Valley but it turns out not many people saw it.
NBC is reporting a major drop in viewership for the 45th season premiere of Saturday Night Live.
The season premiere was the lowest-opener in five years, The Wrap reports. Making matters likely worse for NBC executives, the first episode of the new season had a 30-percent drop in viewers between the ages of 18 and 49 compared to last year's season opener. The 18-49 market is coveted by advertisers, making it crucial when determining rating success.
The season premiere also had a 15-percent drop overall in viewers compared to 2018.
Woody Harrelson hosted the first episode with musical guest Billie Eilish. The episode also saw Alec Baldwin reprising the role of President Trump and surprise appearances from Maya Rudolph and Larry David.
But the most talked-about sketch in the Hudson Valley was one about the odd owners of an apple orchard. The sketch didn't mention the Hudson Valley by name but many say it referenced parts of the area by saying the apple farm was "located in the part of New York State that has confederate flags."
