Remembering Bassist Jack Bruce of Cream
Legendary rock bassist Jack Bruce of the band Cream died on this day 3 years ago (Oct. 25, 2014).
Jack Bruce was a bassist, singer and songwriter best known for his work as a member of supergroup Cream, which also featured singer/guitarist Eric Clapton and drummer Ginger Baker. The band's third album released in 1968, Wheels of Fire, would become the world's first platinum-selling double album featuring singles "White Room" and "Crossroads". They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1993. In 2011 Rolling Stone Magazine named Jack Bruce the eighth greatest bass guitarists of all time.
Jack Bruce died of liver disease on Oct. 25, 2014 at the age of 71. His funeral was held on Nov. 5 in London and it was attended by Clapton, Baker, and other notable musicians.
