A City of Poughkeepsie woman is accused of stealing over $18,000 benefits she wasn't entitled to, the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office announced in a press release issued Thursday.

Constance F. McGill-Boyrie, 47, was arrested Wednesday and charged with grand larceny and welfare fraud, both felonies, according to the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office.

McGill-Boyrie received $18,594 in Medicare and Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits during a three-year period. However, the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office Detective Division and the Dutchess County Community and Family Services Department Special Investigations Unit discovered McGill-Boyrie had other income coming into the household at the time she was receiving benefits, authorities said.

McGill-Boyrie was process and arraigned in City of Poughkeepsie Court after her arrest on Wednesday. She was released on her own recognizance and will reappear in court at a future date.
