Police: Woman Attempts to Smuggle Drugs Into Prison
A woman was found in possession of multiple drugs as she attempted to enter Downstate Correctional Facility.
An investigation indicated that Erin N. Kowalewski, 39, of Cohoes, NY , a visitor intended to provide drugs to an inmate at Downstate Correctional Facility.
She was found in possession of Diazepam, Suboxone, Hydrocodone, and Marijuana.
Kowaleski was charged with Promoting Prison Contraband in the First Degree, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Fifth Degree, both Class D Felonies, Promoting Prison Contraband in the Second Degree, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree, and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana.
She was arraigned in the Town of Fishkill Court and remanded to Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $2,500 cash bail, or $5,000 bond.
She is scheduled to return to court this week.
