A local Hudson Valley community is reeling from an alleged attack against an umpire after a player disagreed with his call.

Just last month, Saugerties was the scene of another softball altercation when a mother was charged for spitting and biting other parents at her daughter's game. Now, it's a player who has reportedly turned his anger against an umpire.

Bacon reportedly punched the umpire in the face causing head and eye injuries.

The Times Herald Record reports that Adam Bacon, a 20-year-old player for the Union Shave softball team, had a verbal dispute with an official after disagreeing with one of his calls during the game. After the game ended, police say Bacon punched the umpire in the face causing head and eye injuries.

There is no word on the condition of the 35-year-old umpire, but Bacon was arraigned in Saugerites Town Court and an order of protection was given to the Umpire. The Union Shave team, by the way, lost to MHV Investment 7-8.
