If you're an anti-GMO, organic food connoisseur from the state of New Jersey, fear not: Smart Beer, based in New Paltz, proudly boasts of being the first, certified all-organic brewery in New York state, but it will soon be available outside of the Empire State, as well.

Already present in all of the boroughs of New York City, as well as some landmarks like CitiField, the company will now be reaching New Jersey. From a press release:

Smart Beer, New York's first organic beer company, has just expanded distribution to New Jersey, bringing premium organic beers brewed with herbal ingredients for a pure, clean, crisp, refreshing taste to discerning drinkers of the Garden State.

An official New Jersey release party will take place on August 26 at McLoone's in Asbury Park.

Smart Beer is yet another example of the wide range of breweries popping up here in the Hudson Valley. If you're interested in small batch stuff and sours, we've got a bunch (Bacchus, Sloop, Plan Bee), excellent sessionable beers (Keegan, Newburgh), some super creative takes on traditional international styles (Rushing Duck), some huge, bold IPAs and/or delicious takes on a wide range of styles (Mill House, Newburgh again). I suppose it makes sense that we have the first organic beer in the state, as well.
