My Lost Treasure: Steely Dan

The theme is old and/or new right now on My Lost Treasure, and today we have one with a very local connection.  I do not know if it is common knowledge that today's song was written about Bard College right here in the Hudson Valley, or if it is something just the locals know about.

Yes, it is true.  Donald Fagen and Walter Becker both attended Bard College in Annandale on Hudson.  They played music together there, and that was the beginning of many years together.  The song is reportedly about a time they went back to visit the school and ended up getting arrested.  Charges were eventually dropped, but the experienced left a bitter taste in their mouths.  It also inspired them to write a pretty awesome song.  Just listen to the lyrics, and you will hear them singing about Annandale.
